Here are some interesting facts and tidbits about Indian Ridge and its history!

The Property

• Original Deed dated July 18, 1843. Conveyed by Sheriff John K. Wilson to John L. Lane
• Deed was transferred several times until it ended up in the hands of Melvin and Jean Derickson in 1955

The Working Farm

• 130 Tillable acres, running North and South, East side of the ridge
• 75 acres dedicated to pasture, running North and South, West side of the ridge Dairy Farm, milked 50-60 Holstein cows, raised replacement heifers
• Crops: Corn, Wheat and Hay. No cash crops raised. All crops went into dairy production

Buy-Out Program

• Sold dairy cows and related equipment due to a Federal "Buy-Out" Program in 1987. Kept the farm and rented it to a local farmer, Darryl Beckett, who farmed it until golf course development began in October, 1986. This "buy-Out" allowed Jean and Dutch to retire and Time to pursue other interests.

History of Course Development

• P.B. Dye showed interest in property but was unable to pursue due to poor health at the time
• Meeting with Jean and Dutch Derickson, Jim Rohr and Tim Derickson concerning potential development
• Jerry Ittel and the Green Prairie Turf commit to project

Interesting Facts

• 560 Sprinkler Heads & 58 Sand Bunkers
• 1,650 Tons of sand used in Bunkers
• 22,000,000 (that's millions) of water used to irrigate this summer
• Approximately 4 Miles of Drain Tile placed underground
• Approximately 450,000 yards of dirt moved to build the course.
